Important infomation on DVDs and Films
R1+R2
17.03.03: Road to Perdition (R2) DVD is released. This is a brilliant film which is up for 6 oscar nominations and won 4 BAFTA's this year. A brilliant film directed by Sam Mendes. This has had a luke warm DVD state side and with the removal of DTS here will the DVD hold up? Check out the DVD preview section for more info
01.04.03: Red Dragon (2 Disc Widescreen Editon) (R1) is released. One of the better releases last year this prequel to Silence of the Lambs is not as good as that film it is better then Hannibal. There are three versions of the DVD being released including this version, the fullscreen edition and another widescreen edition. Check out the DVD preview section for more info.
02.05.03: Die Another Day (5.1, DTS) (R2) DVD 2 disc set is released. Yes! DTS!!! After we gave some info detailing what could be on the DVD we now have the full extras list. Check out DVD previews for full list of extras
05.05.03: 28 Days Later is released. I have the extra's list but I dont have sound or widescreen presentation. Check out DV previews for the list.
Summer 2003: Rumours are abound of a 3 disc special editon of George A Romero's Dawn of the Dead. This will include documentarys and a new Widescreen presentation of the film with Re-mastered Sound. More info as we get it.
Another rumour that is apparently fact is the release maybe just in the states of the Indiana Jones trilogy on DVD. Spielberg has told us of his distaste of Commentarys so don;t expect that but I'm sure we can expect brand new Remastered editions with documentarys galore. More info as we get it.
This year also has some fantastic cinema releases. Out now is The Hours starring Nicole Kidmen as Virginia Wolf and Merryl Streep with Julianne Moore. This British film will do well in the Oscars as it did in the BAFTA's. This summers box office blockbusters should be interesting as well with Will Smith and Matrin Lawrence returning in Michael Bays sequel to his orginal film in Bad Boys 2. Also we have the two Matrix films and also Terminator 3: The Rise of the Machines. All these films should have some very interesting DVD releases in 2004.
Of course were also waiting for more info on the Special Edition of Blade Runner. Again as soon as I get any details I will post em.
Just in: I just recieved news on the upcomming T2 Extreme edition. James Cameron Speaks
The director contributes a rare feature-length audio commentary in T2: Extreme DVD, Artisan Home Entertainments third disc outing with Camerons Terminator 2: Judgment Day, one that surpasses the suppliers two prior editions in terms of transfer and extras.
The two-disc set is due in stores June 3 at $29.98. Prebook is May 6.
Terminator 2 has received a new 1080p high-definition anamorphic widescreen transfer for the Extreme edition, as well as a frame-by-frame restoration that Artisan says makes the 1991 hit look better than when it premiered in theaters.
The version presented in the set is the special edition version of the movie that contains 16 minutes of footage that did not appear in theaters.
Joining Cameron in the audio commentary is co-writer William Wisher.
Special features in the set include an Extreme Interactive Mode, providing behind-the-scenes footage and graphic commentary providing insight into decisions during the films shoot.
Other features include No Feat But What We Make, a new documentary highlighting T2s role in the development of digital effects and modern filmmaking; T2: On the Set, a retrospective montage that includes rare production footage; Infiltration Unit Simulator and T2 FX Studio, a primer on image morphing that allows one to graft ones own head shot onto a T800 or T1000 Terminator; and Skynet Combat Chassis Designer, with which one can construct and field-test a Terminator fighting machine.
The movie disc will include a Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround EX audio track and a Dolby headphone audio track.
In the DVD preview section we have a list of all the Oscar Nominations for this year. Check it out. The Oscars take place on Saturday 22nd March
